DID CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) SUCCEED? A MODEL OF ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT FOR LOCAL OIL PALM FARMERS

The aim was to examine a model of economic empowerment for local oil palm farmers through corporate social responsibility (CSR). research subjects were the parties involved in company, community, and stakeholders. data collection carried out interviews, focus group discussions, observations. results showed that CSR is still not optimal improving community's economy. issues faced as follows: 1) community yet ready manage funds provided by company; 2) government's role due limitations human resources available funds. program proposed government should receive contributions from companies be integrated with what company carrying avoiding difficulties terms bureaucratic regulations/laws. Recommendations: First, programs designed implemented companies/NGOs/universities expertise experience. Second, creation cooperatives according clan group. Third, use processing waste fertilizer can used around company.
